Scholarship Name Regional Scholarship (Africa) (undergraduate)
Academic Year 2021

If you're an international student from Africa and are self-funding your undergraduate studies, you could be eligible for a scholarship of £3,500, paid as a discount on your first year’s tuition fee.

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following conditions:

  • These scholarships are restricted to applicants who are classified as international students for fees purposes and are ordinarily resident in an African nation* (defined as a member state of the African Union).
  • Applicants must be entirely self-funded.
  • Applicants must be starting their first year of study on a degree course at the University of Essex in 2021-22.
  • Applicants must actively make Essex their firm choice by 19 July 2021**. Applicants that become firm with Essex through rejection by their original firm choice selection elsewhere are not eligible.
  • Only one scholarship award can be made per student and the award cannot normally be held in conjunction with other University of Essex awards.
  • This scholarship is available for the first year of study only.

* excluding Mauritius, for which we have a separate award.

** University of Essex International College students are exempt from this deadline.

You are not eligible for this award, even if you meet the criteria above, if you:

  • Students who are fully or partly sponsored.
  • These scholarship awards do not apply to deferred entry. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry to the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry.
  • Students transferring into the second year from another UK higher education institution.
  • Students who are not assessed as paying overseas fees.
  • Students directly continuing from one course to another (for example from Foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree).

My consultant was very helpful and motivating. She helped me every step of the way, even when the deadline was so close. I feel I could not have done it without her. I'd highly recommend this service to any and all of my many friends interested.
